Hi,

I am brewing away from home this summer and I dont have access to my bottling bucket. As it feels wasteful to create a new bottling bucket just for one batch I am wondering what you think of these substitutes.

1. My old boiling bucket (that doubles as a mash tun) that has a spigot. As I can easily boil it I shouldn't run into a risk of contaminating the beer with lactobacillus right? It also has some scratches and stains, does that cause any risks?

2. 2-3 bigger saucepans so I avoid lactobacillus altogether and transfer the beer to bottles via a siphon.

3. Buying a normal plastic bucket without a spigot.

That's asking for trouble.

Using a bottling wand with a "shut off tippy," you can bottle straight from your siphon/racking cane as long as it retains prime.
Use a clamp to hang the cane half way between the trub and beer surface. Lower as the surface drops. Tilt toward the end.

Add the right amount of priming sugar to your bottles, or make a priming solution and use a syringe to dope them.

Bottle from the primary. Prime each bottle by hand, it's really not that hard. Use small sugar cubes if you find it easier. Racking cane and bottling wand.

You'd have to take the valve out of your boiling bucket and make sure it's clean even boiling it to make sure it's sterile. Too much risk, and work.
