Hey, just wondering what kind of numbers you guys have to correct for for the amount of heat that gets sucked out of the mash by the cooler itself. If you preheat the cooler, do you use boiling water or no, and either way, how much and how long?

I put about 4 L of water in the mash/tun about 10 min before the mash. I don't notice any difference between my calculated mash temp and the real mash temp if I do that.

I pour boiling water into the tun for about 10 minutes then pour it off & adjust to the strike temperature. I think I'm going to start using less boiling water & adjust to strike temperature & volume in the tun. Anything to make less work.
