I finished my keezer a few weeks ago using a Ranco ETC 111000. I plugged in back then and everything seemed to work fine (i.e., I set it on 40 and it shut off when it reached 40, which didn't take long). Two days ago, I plugged it in again (same settings) and everything seemed fine. Last night, I put my secondary in there to crash cool. I checked it this morning and the temp controller was reading a current temp of 55. Since it apparently ran nonstop all night, the secondary was frozen. I put an analog thermometer in the keezer and it was 18!

There are no error codes showing on the ETC and the probe appears to be undamaged. Any thoughts on my problem?

Check all you connections, check with icewater, check to see if you are using the N/O not the N/C contact, check to see if it is set for cooling and not heating. Just a few things to look at.

I just rechecked all of the connections - they're good. The probe is like new. It's currently reading 89 for what is really 68. Earlier, it was reading 51 for what was really 18. Is there a way to calibrate?

89 and 68? 51 and 18? Are you sure that you aren't reading upside down?

I'm kidding, but only sort of... I can't even tell you how many times little things like that have completely slipped me :drunk:

Assuming that you are indeed smarter than I, I'd give the manufacturer a call, see what they suggest in that situation.
