I live on a farm and have a man cave in one of my barns. It's turned into my snake room/TV retreat room. I have a small bathroom in there that never gets used and isn't hooked up to the air or heat so I've been using it as my brew room (it never gets used, is more of a just incase thing).

I'm using 71B that has a wide temp range, but I control the temp by opening the door to the snake room to help up the heat a little bit and not let t get too cold. I know most people experience better fermentation at colder temps but I'm worried the swings from 64-71ish every few days will have a negative effect.

Am I worrying over nothing?

I wouldn't lose sleep over this but temperature swings are not known to produce excellent wines. Is there some way that you could perhaps build a small cupboard or box that you could heat/chill to keep the must at a more constant temperature - tho' in my opinion , 7 degree swings are not the end of the world.

Unfortunatly not, I could probably keep it upstairs which stays 66-70 more constantly as winter rolls in. I was planning on doing this in my basement, but we're having it sealed and finished currently/throughout the winter so it's gonna be a mess. I can just be more dilligent about managing the heat in that room. I have a spare oil radiator that I usually use for the hatchling room that is on a thermostat that I can set to 66 and it'll keep the room 66* +\- 1.5*

I'm less bothered by you fermenting in a bathroom than I am about you having a snake room.

Lol it's hardly a bathroom. It has a sink and toilet and shower, but I'm a guy and have 800 acres, i use that bathroom maybe 1 time a month. As far as a snake room, they take up quite a bit of space 😂

Holy Crap! What are you growing on a farm that requires a 20' Python? :D
Wait! 800 Acres and a giant snake, you got a King Kong in the holler behind you too?

You're the first person to think she's actually 20' and not like 45+ Lol

I wish I was in Kong Island, my next pet I'm hoping for are porcupines lol. I inherited the family farm young and go to college and collect strange animals to keep myself occupied.

Sweet snake.

I think 7 degrees is not much of a big deal, but if you're worried about it you can add more insulation around your fermentor like wrapping it in a blanket.
