So I make a run to the hardware store to replace all my plastic tubing. Well, it looks like HD, Lowes and Menards all get their clear tubing from the same supplier, becuase all the 5/16 tubing comes in 10ft coils and is held together by clear packing tape. The 3/8 is wrapped with a zip-tie, why they are different, I do not know.

So, what is the best way to remove sticky tape residue from my tubing? I do not need patches of bacteria housing on my stuff. Thanks

HD/Lowes do carry the same brand of tubing in 20' rolls. Odd thing is that Menards also carries the same brand but it is zip tied together.

+1 for ACE/True Value, they have a much better selection of actual "hardware" stuff.

If you want to buy some tubing in bulk shop around online, the prices are typically cheaper.

Try "Goo Gone". That stuff works quite well, but may leave a residue that will need to be washed off with either dish detergent or PBW/Oxy.

Fair enough. I only checked the big box stores. All of them in my area no longer sell tubing by the foot. It's all prepackaged in 10 and 20 ft rolls. (Why sell 3 feet, when they can charge for 10?)

I've got GooGone, but I didn't want to use that. It's an petroleum derivative, and I'd rather not have that around my beer. I don't have PBW, but might be time to pick some up.

Looks like finding it w/o the tape would be a better option.

Sometimes I use a little peanut butter for goo / label stick removal. The oil in the PB softens the adhesive after a while. Not as good a solvent as goo gone or wd40, but food grade and easy to schmear a lil on. Follow up w/ hot soapy water.
