By Chris Kahn, AP Energy Writer
Oil prices fall below $40 for the first time since 2004 despite production cut from OPEC

OPEC... take tha suckers. Merry Xmas!

Sincerely,

The Free World

Dear Free World,

We can't hear you with all of your money clogging up our ears.

Sincerely,

Camel Jockeys

Middle Eastern countries (Iran) are reigning in thier spending and postponing large projects because they are no longer getting paid $147/barrel for oil...

I think they are feeling a pinch, and I love it.

AP
"Oil funds 60 percent of the government budget, economists say, supporting billions in public subsidies of goods such as gasoline, sugar and bread. A research center affiliated with Iran's parliament reported last week that the government depends on oil at $80 a barrel to keep its accounts balanced."

Russia, not a memboer of OPEC, but another country that feeds itself with its huge oil exports is also feeling the slump. Karma... it is a b%^#.

I think $30/barrel sounds about right... that is a good round number.

They did, they just cut productin by 2.2 million barrles a day. That was announced yesterday.

There is also belief that some OPEC members will not enforce the production cut (some never do), even further undermining the attempt to boost prices.

Because no American company profited from high oil prices. If yoi are going to hate on the countries who export their raw materials, don't forget to hate on all the middlemen who get it here, the investors who speculate on the future value, and the general populous for driving up the demand.

Thanks Parker36... I am capable of hating on everyone, especially those you listed... but I love to hate on nations that are terrorist hotbeds and that profit from raping the world because they hold our energy in thier hands.

I also love to hate on nations like Russia... you can't escapre karma there.

Seeing the financial demise of such countries can accomplish something that armies and diplomacy could never do.

I am not arguing that you shouldn't hate on oil companies, but to be racist to the entire middle east is just ignorant. I sure as hell don't want to be linked with some of the horrible past history of the US. I don't want people hating on me because of something I have or had no control over. "Camel Jockey" is just plain racist and insulting.

I will take that...

Though, they really do race camels.

They call us horse jockeys, we race horses... I am not offended by horse jockey. In fact, I love Kentucky!

"Camel Jockey" is just plain racist and insulting.

Honestly? Camel Jockey has you all riled up?

I can think of a whole lot more "insulting" descriptions for em...

Then again - about the only way you can offend me is by calling me politically correct....

I would be offended if someone called YOU politically correct.

just sort of a drunk tangent: middle eastern racism pisses me off(really just racism in general but it seems middle eastern racism has a "get out of jail free" card). seriously, have you ever been to the middle east? have you ever talked to any middle easterners? spent time with them in their country? I'm guessing no. cause if you have and you talked with an everyday person from the middle east you would never spew such hatred from your mouth. I've been to 3 middle eastern countries probably a good 20 individual times. they are ordinary everyday real f#ck!ng people. they are nice, accepting, hospitable, and tolerant. every single arab, persian, pakistani, whatever, I have ever met wants and does the exact same thing as you do. they go to work day in and day out to provide for their family and make a living. calling them camel jockey's, Dromedary Transportation Specialist. or any other epithet is digusting. BTW I've never head any middle easterner call me a horse jockey. . .

if Zimbabwe was in OPEC no one would say "Take this N*****s, sincerely, the free world"

it's disgusting, racist, and blisters my paint. try being a little more tolerant.

What hatred spewed out of my mouth? Did I ever say that all middle easterners were bad people?

To me - racial slurs are all about those living up to the stereotypes. "Death to America" anyone?

In other words there are (insert racial slur here) and there are (PC racial name here).

People are just too fing sensitive.

I guess I'm just a honky... or... cracker? Is there a better "racial" slur for whites? If so - call me it!

"I can think of a whole lot more "insulting" descriptions for em..." that seems like a pretty general "all inclusive" observation to me (especially in light of the OP and reference to OPEC and camel jockeys). . . trust me, I'm all about non PC. . . but all inclusive grouping and racism, in my view, is just plain wrong.

But see, I'm not racist. I hate everyone equally.

I've been on the other side of the debate - standing up for those of middle eastern decent, namely those that follow the Islamic religion.

There are many more insulting slurs than the one the OP used - which was the point of my original post.

While I too hate social and racial intolerance, I'm sick of people getting so riled up over racial slurs. (Probably because I grew up as a middle class white boy)

my post wasn't really directed towards you. more towards racism and bigotry in general. calling a whole part of the globe "camel jockeys" because a select few in a government control the prices of OPEC oil is just ignorant.

No one called a "whole part of the globe" aything.

I feel comfortable calling the OPEC leaders, well, much worse.

The statement was directed toward them, not the "whole part of the globe" as someone put it.

But, if that is how you want to read it, interpret it, so that you can have something more to complain about, that is cool, continue. Yawwwnnn.

Seems pretty "ignorant" to do so, but we are Americans, we are in general pretty ignorant. :D Just ask the rest of the world.

I hate to break it to you, but "camel jockey" is a derogatory insult for middle easterns. So if you use that term, then yes you are insulting a "whole part of the globe".

If I call you a redneck... am I insulting your neighbor? Even if he drives a sedan and not a monster truck painted in green cammo with a gun rack? Now, that sounds rediculous. That is way over the top...

You both may live in Arkansas... but that doesnt lump him in with you.

Wait.....
Ecuadorians and Venezuelans are camel jockeys?

Carry on....

I was in the grocery store the other day and found this Middle Eastern woman holding a couple of big Idaho potatoes in her hands. She was just standing there staring at them and seemed to be in a bit of a daze, so I asked her if I could help. She kinda’ looked at me and in a heavy accent she said: “These potatoes remind me of my husband’s testicles.”
“What! They’re that big?” I asked in shock
“No” She said “they are this dirty”

I believe it was the production of barrels that was cut by 2.2. BILLION not million. And most news reports are that it had little to no effect on the price of gas due to an ever increasing surplus. And not all OPEC nations follow through with their commitment to cut production. OPEC is notorious for publicizing that they are going to cut production just to get an affect rise in prices, but many countries don't follow through with the cut back.

How DARE you insult camels in such a manner!

What have they EVER done to you? They never asked to be jockeyed.

Pol, you are an insensitive, bigotted, poo-poo diaper baby.

:p:cross::D:confused:

Nah...it was "million".

CNN - Dec - 17, 2008: On Wednesday, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, an international trade organization whose members supply about 40% of the world's oil, elected to cut production by 2.2 million barrels a day in January.

And this topic is going nowhere fast.
