Nugget Nectar is pretty tasty, very green hoppy flavor. Troegs makes a couple good brews for sure.

I have never had the moose drool either, but that version isn't a bad brown ale at all.

yeah, there is a clone recipe on here... so it may just as well get added to the list of ones i want to brew..

naw it was not to bad of a brown...

jhenderson, what was the brew you had with the red in the b? i had that tonight but im curious of what it was... it was nice and malty while balanced between bitterness and malt. the carbonation was perfect.

i as well had the american light. this is real crisp and clean had the perfect carbonation. some malty flavor towards the end of the beer. i like it but i would not say love it. this is nice on a hot day.. it seems light enough for it. but it just does not fit into the styles i prefer. keep up the good work tho!

Irish red ale. I just brewed batch 2 of it today.

funny, I just brewed an irish red ale yesterday, and another rebrew of the orange hefe (20g double brew on Sunday!). Great with the electric, it went off without a hitch. 6 Hours, 20gallons!

This time I did 12 oranges instead of 8 for the hefe and plan to ferment at 62F instead of 68F.

The red ale is a rebrew of an extract recipe, but this time we obviously did it all grain.

Now we are talking about building a tiered rack system this winter, and getting a dedicated 80-100qt BK. That would be awesome!

your insaine! haha... love it! i cant brew anytime soon.. my pipeline is at is max and i have no where to put brew... bottles are waiting on whats in the fermenters right now.... then from there.. im out of kegs and bottles.. guess ill have to go buy a keg or two.

Indeed - go big or go home ;)

I am splitting that 20g with my buddy who brewed with me. But you have to admit, two batches, 5g each for 10g of brew in a 6 hour session. That's 3 hours per batch; now that is some economy of scale. Better yet, that means I can dial down my frequency of brewing and do double days - nice to do that in the summer.

jhenderson, im having your irish red right now... this is pretty good. there is a good amount o malt flavor. with a nice malty nose. iv had some bad and good irish reds, and i think this is one of the better ones i have had.

I get a TON of caramel flavor from this one. its perfectly carbonated... and really smooth.

good job on this one.

By the way rust - did you ever dig into that arrogant? I have been craving it so I have to throw a couple bombers in the fridge tonight, maybe due to this humid rainy weather. I think I might only have a DFH from you left, or they are all gone :)

jhenderson - I only have a lone soldier (torpedo) left from your brew efforts.

will be cool to set this trade off up again. Though it might have to be in a month or two to make sure we all have enough to swap.

Well I am trying a rebrew of the blood orange hefe :) Of course... blood oranges are out of season so I had to use navel. But this time around I am fermenting at 62F to see if that is any different in results than 68F I did previously. I have been able to keep temps at 62-64 so far, 64F at the peak of krausen. Great part about that brew is that I get to keg it up next weekend!

I kind of have been liking the hefes though - really liked both the dunkel and hefewiezen versions from franziskaner. I am looking for a good clone for those since they have a really nice silky mouthfeel and almost creamy nuance - great session brew in the summer.

no i have not gotten into it, my kegorator died this past week, so i had to go pick a new fridge up (thank god for craigslist) and my professor has been yelling at me to finish my thesis.. i havent had much time to sit down and relax. but im hoping to get to it soon!... i have the obsidian Stout left of yours cidah and the AB, jhendersons i have i think 3 brews left. 1 torpedo, and the two stouts.

that's lots of good fun then!!

I am actually enjoying the last bavarian hefe bottle I put aside (got one aside for you gents as well.) I like it better now (about a month old) than I did at 2 weeks. No orange needed. Sad part is.... it is the last one!

I think I am going to rebrew this too - but I plan to change the hop schedule to have a late addition like the blood orange hefe does. I will probably make a couple other small changes. Don't know why but I am loving hefes lately.

That calls for a
haller 60
saaz 20
haller 10

I also used WL 351 instead of 300 on that one, and I really like that yeast. I might try it on eds bavarian version.

Then again I might just try a dunkel

AG batch #2 in progress! I'm making a Guinness clone to help break in the new kegging system.

Brewed up a pale 3 weeks ago. Kegged carbed and served myself one up. Absoltely delicious.

4lbs pilsner malt.
3 pounds canadian 2-row
.5 pound carapils.
.5 pound c60.

1oz pearle 60
1oz cascade 30
.5 oz cascade 15/5 min.
Irish moss at 15
1 packet notty rehydrated

Mash at 154-155 60 min.

Ideally mash for 60 min. I ran out to the bar for 2 hours and then sparged.

Haha - that is hilarious - you ran to the bar during your mash?!

twoguns - are you doing that Guinness clone using a soured can of Guinness? I have that on my to do list, but haven't brewed it yet. By the way - what did you end up going with for you kegging system?

I was just looking at the twin towers online this weekend. Man I forgot they are like 180 for the all stainless with perlicks. Looks like I will be waiting a big longer before I install two more taps upstairs ha!

A while back we talked about gas from haun or the LBHS. So I swapped out a 20lb can today and just wanted to report on the cost.

a. cost me 27$ for the gas + 1 new nylon washer (probably $1 or so).

Just an FYI

jhenderson - I have been thinking about doing a pale as well, need something light for the summer... We will see, I might even jump on a lager if I feel froggy this weekend. I love my IPAs but I am getting IPAed out lately.

that isnt to bad for 20lb tank...

i feel out of the loop now.. this paper has been consuming my life! but i have the kegorator almost done!, just a few more things to be done... ill post a pick when im done!

seems to me that all i have been brewing lately is Pales... (not thats a bad thing) I have 5 beers in kegs right now... and anther two going into bottles... ill be setting one aside of each of those for you guys for our next exchange!

If you brew that pale i created you wont be dissapointed. It came out great, lite, crisp. I shot for 4.5% and got 4.42% so rite what i wanted. I am such a huge fan of it. Excellent hop flavor but not overpowering. The pilsner malt really made it light bodied compared to all 2-row or pale malt. I will have this on tap all the time now.

It actually looks very similar to the sierra nevada pale ale (a good thing :)

Same hops, similar malt bill. I don't have any cascade hops though (or perle)... so maybe I will have to check out the LHBS. I seem to recall they had a lb back of the whole hops - wonder what the price is. Maybe I will get a pale going this weekend! Part of me wants to get another Denny's Rye IPA going - I love that stuff....

It is similar to BM nierra sevada. I loved his but wanted a little less malt and different body profile to it. So i made a couple changes and am very very happy.

Cool. Well I cruised over to the LHBS on lunch.... 1 lb cascade whole hops 7.1AA for 14.99!! I ran with that one for sure. Was tempted to grab the hallertau pellets they had too, but they were not the mittlefruh, just the domestic. Still might get them, but not for now.

Considering the Pale or Sam Adams summer ale for this weekend. We will see in due time :)

jhenderson, i had your chocolate stout tonight... i like the strong aroma of chocolate that you get. i get a ton of roasted barley, but not much of the chocolate. this is also really dry... and i get some bitterness at the end? could that be from the roasted barley, or from the hops... overall its pretty good, stouts are one of my favorite styles..

You better watch out talking about deals to us locals, all of the sudden those tasty hops will be gone! :)

Ha! Actually, if enough of us buy like that, maybe they will start giving us more varieties of hops by the pound (that whole demand thing). That... I am ok with!
