She learned it in Nam. Like she is watching for people to sneak up on her. I took a picture a long time ago and laughed with her about it. I just get freaked out when I look over at her (like right now) and she is asleep but her eyes are still cracked open!

:mug:

I do that too. My eyes aren't all the way open but about halfway. My SWMBO gets freaked out as well. I have used this skill for evil as well; its easy to pretend you're asleep when she wants something done.

That is evil. She is literally laying on the couch asleep and I take pictures of it whenever I can because it is just wild. When she is super duper tired, she sleeps with them more open. I have caught her around 4pm asleep on the couch and they are about halfway. Totally wild.

You know the funniest part, is that I look at her while doing it and I swear that she is just looking at me. I am watching tv and doing this here forum and she just watches me "unblinkingliy". I have been admiring this trait for a long time as I said, but it is still a wildly entertaining thing to look at some times. On that point, I need a drink!

This is a breed trait for greyhounds (and I suspect other sight hounds). My two will actually track me as I walk around, dead asleep.

My Golden Retreiver used to sleep with her eyes open. First couple of times I saw it, I thought she'd died!

My SWMBO does the same thing. Used to drive me crazy, now I just throw a blanket over her head.

That’s funny because I did the same thing, except I used a pillow … and I held it down until her eyes closed.

My little brother used to do that. It was creepy. His eyes would be half open and his eyes rolled back so you can just see white. One time we were at the hospital very late at night because my father had a heart attack and he found a stretcher to fall asleep on. Sure scared the crap out of one of the nurses...

I'm just wondering whether you crawled out of bed just to let us know or if you sleep with your blackberry...

I wonder if this is a sleep disorder.... How well does one sleep with their eyes open? Its almost like people who stop breathing for awhile when they are zonked out.

my dad has apnea and it freaks me out when he stops breathing and I have to wake him up. I have some crazy sleepers in my life.

Sometimes when I am sleeping my one eye willie decides that it wants to 'Open' (for business that is)

Ive come to learn that this is the difference between Light and Hard.

You can sleep with a light on...
