So, I'm about to go ahead with my first original recipe. Guided by "Designing Great Beers," I've come up with the following for a sweet stout. Does everything look OK to you more experienced guys?

Target Gravity is 1.056.
Mash @ 152F.

13 oz. Roasted Barley
1 lb. Chocolate Malt
1.15 lbs. Crystal 60
9.6 lbs. 2-row
1 lb. Lactose

1 oz. East Kent Goldings for 60min.
1/4 oz. East Kent Goldings & 1 tsp. Irish Moss for 15 min.

Irish Ale Yeast

Recipe looks good. I'd mash at 155-157 for a sweet stout. You'll get more body than with a lower mash temperature. Unless you want a drier finish and more alcohol. One piece of advice that will serve you well with this style...give it lots of time to mellow out. It'll have a very one-dimentional roast character for the first month or two, but give it six and you'd be amazed at how it changes and takes on a whole new character. I'm drinking from a bottled batch from February '10 and it is going down by the gallon!

Have fun

Looks very good to me. I've made a few sweet stouts over the years and my recipes are very similar to the one you posted.
