So here's the issue...

I bought a Belgian Tripel extract kit that came with the normal beet sugar. The stuff I was given is 1.032 PPG and 16 oz. The plan is to flavor the beer with Thai ginger syrup. The ginger syrup I got to flavor the beer is the same weight and ppg as the stuff provided by the kit. My question is, should I swap the beet syrup for the ginger syrup or just add both? I THINK if I add both it will increase the APV but also confuse the taste profile. I'm all for a good stiff beer but I'd like to make a beer that's also a pleasure to drink.

Not knowing the recipe you are using, the only advice anyone can give you is do a straight swap.

However, many Belgians can take (and benefit) from large sugar additions But not knowing what the recipe is, and the percentage of simple sugars already n the beer, I would hesitate to suggest adding extra,

So the recipe calls for 7lbs German Pilsner LME, 3lbs Light DME, and 1lb candi syrup. Because the syrups seem only different in flavor being both the same weight and PPG, I was thinking of just swapping them. Do you think that works better or just add the other candi syrup in addition to the lb provided?

Thanks for the reply!

10 lbs of extract + 1 lbs syrup for a Belgian. Seems light on the simple sugar to me, especially for an extract batch. Looks like OG would be about 1.083.

Belgians like to end dry. I think adding an additional lb of sigar will help the beer. If it were me I'd add the extra sugar rather than replace.

It will increase the OG to about 1.090.

Got it and will do.
