so, no, I am not nessasarily compaining because my ABV% is in the 6.3% range, but, beeersmith gave me a suggested final gravity of 1.013... I hit 1.006. yes, I checked it with two hydrometers and yes, both 6 gallon pales of beer measured the same. used one package of dry yeast per 6 gallon pale

wonder why it fermented out lower than suggested?

Are both hydrometers calibrated against distilled water? You might have two hydrometers that read the same because they are both out of calibration by the same amount. That being said I have had issues with Beersmith not predicting the right FG either but it's likely something procedural I am doing differently than Beersmith expects.

Yep. i just came back from the basement where I checked them in distilled water. one reads spot on and the other reads 1.002, but I knew that and take it into account when I use it (I have it marked).

guess Beersmith is just off a little. no biggy. I am totally fine with a 6.3% spring beer for sitting around the campfire :).
