Hello all! I'm a college student with a love for fine beer and thought it would be a great time to start brewing. I picked up a kit from a local homebrew store that came with the following:

Plastic Primary Fermenter with drilled & grommeted lid
5 GallonSecondary P.E.T. Better Bottle™ Plastic Carboy
3 pc. Airlock & Drilled Rubber Stopper
5 Gallon Glass Carboy
Triple Scale Hydrometer and Test Jar
Thermometer
Siphon Tube, Hose and Clamp
Bottle Capper
Bottle Brush
Bottle Filler
Cleansing Product
Book: Home Beermaking
INGREDIENTS KIT (Includes bottle caps)

The ingredients kit I picked is Brewers Best german altbier style. Hopefully this week I will pick a day to get the ball rolling. Can't wait to learn from this excellent looking forum! Thanks!

Welcome ! try using the glass carboy for your primary. It's way easier to clean, plus you can watch your brew ferment. You may want to use a blow off tube however. This site has tons of useful info, you'll be hooked
