Hello to All,

A funny thing happened to me this past weekend. My wife has her hobbies and to be honest I'm not really into them. You know, baskets and crafts and such.
However, if I go along with her it usually means stopping somewhere to feed my face and also get a couple of brewskies, and that's a good thing.
This weekend something magical happened. While she was browsing crafts and boring (to me) things of that nature I went browsing some small stores hidden in a basement mini commons/mall. I was playing with toys and deciding what Pez dispenser to buy when all of a sudden I spotted a neon "beer" sign.

Hmmm, what's this, a store that sells neon signs? But what are those other boxes and stuff? What's this, why am I being subconsciously drawn inside? Who's doing this....get out of my head...wait...what the....ooohhhmyyy! There I was, somehow I was standing in the middle of a home brewing/neon beer sign supply store. :rockin: I quickly grabbed the attention of the clerk and said, "start talkin'!
She briefed me on homebrewing and gave me some free literature (Zymurgy mag) along with simple instruction on first time brewing. Another newbie walked in for supplies for his second batch and the dude was all smiles! He was helpful also and informed me of how easy it was. Easy is good...so why haven't I done this already after drinking the stuff for so long? Well I have to get some brew made quick before I end up weaving a basket or a eucalyptus wreath for my front door or something in a craft class with my wife. Wow, that last sentence gave me a pain in my eye and my neck is twitching.

By then my wife found me  Oddly enough she was very into it and actually wants to buy me the kit for fathers day. This makes me a little suspiciuos, could she have inhaled some glue while at the crafts store? Well, I spoke about it again today and she's still into it (more suspicious).

I guess it's a basic kit and ok for first timers. Anyway I have been doing a little research and working towards that day when I brew my first batch. I guess I can't even say I'm newbie, I'm still just a drinker:drunk: I'm hoping to be a little more educated by the time I get the kit so I'll be reading more than posting.

So a day that was supposed to be boring sort of sidetracked me onto a new path, how do you like that!! And my wife is into it to boot.

Maybe it's a dream?

So anyway that's my story ( I tend to be long winded) and here I am!

Did I say hello?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums. You have a lot more patience than me if you are going to wait until Father's Day. If you bought your equipment real soon you could be drinking your first batch on Father's Day.:)

Patience? Me? Not really. I only relayed the events of the day in my post, we'll see what happens in the next few weeks;)
First things first, at least I have my wife excited about this. That's an important step.

One thing I am though is a researcher. Measure twice cut once.
