I am setting up a new keezer and am to the point of assembling the CO2 system. Some previous posts have suggested submerging the tank and regulator in water to check for leaks. Is it safe to put the regulator under water? Will water get into the gauges and affect the accuracy or cause long term corrosion issues?

Thanks for any help!!

I would not submerge the regulator, or the tank for that matter. Go to Home Depot & look in the gas fitting isle for a spray bottle of leak detector. Mist it on a joint & if it bubbles, you have a leak. Or, get a spray bottle at Wal Mart & use dish soap or starsan.

good luck...

Water will get into the gages, but it will drain out. This should only be done if you cannot find a leak any place else.

Gages do leak, not often, but I had a bad low-pressure gage once.
