Recipe: all grain 3 gallon batch/american pale ale

5 lbs 2 row
1 lb caramel/crystal 40L
.5 lb rye malt

Now this is what im thinking but this is where i need some help as well, wanna be around 35-40 IBU's

.5 oz Amarillo @ 60min 9.3 AA
.5 oz Cascade @ 10min 6.4 AA
.75 oz Centennial @ flame out 8.7AA
1.5 oz Citra dry hop for 8 days
Safale us 05, 1 packet

Let me know what ya think, first all grain batch tomorrow so i want to know if my ingrediants look okay for a tasty brew.. Thanks in advance

I think it's too much crystal malt, but otherwise it looks good to me! I'd cut the crystal to no more than .5 pound (ideally less, more like .25 pound for a three gallon batch) but I like the hopping!

According to iBrewMaster, you're looking at about 33 IBUs and maybe a little over 5%

My only other comment would be that 15% crystal in your beer is gonna make it pretty sweet. I had 5% c60 in a 70IBU 3gal batch and the malty sweetness is just a touch too strong for twice the bitterness you'll have. If that's what you're seeking, enjoy. Just my $ .02!

Grains were already crushed:(

Oh well, will see how she goes. Worst case senerio i wasted 14 bucks.. Ive spent that plus some on a bad case of commerical brew before. Still learning the power of the grains and what they do. If its to sweet maybe the wife will like it:)

Maybe add a few more LBS of base malt to lower the crystal %. Another pound or two would suffice. I like the hop schedule but would add a little more bittering hops to firm it up.

.5 oz cascade @5min
.75 oz centennial @ flame out
1.5 oz citra dry hop for 8 days
