Stuck mash

I was at my local Ace Hdw store, they have Hazelnut shells, I wonder if they would work in the mash to prevent it getting stuck, they are crushed somewhat, they could be rinsed and used repeatedly. Has anyone tried them

Why not just stick with rice hulls when needed?

Since you were at the hardware store, why didn't you pick up a couple of paint strainer bags to hold your grains during the mash. Just lift it up and it drains.
