I have been brewing beer for several years, but started my first mead about 3 weeks ago. I used 2 packages D47 yeast (I think I'm not at home as I write this) tsp if wyeast nutrient . I also used 14 lbs honey topped up to 5.25 gallons with water. Rehydrated yeast prior to pitching.

Fermentation started the following day vigorously then tapered off. I added tsp of wyeast nutrient and it started back. Added one additional tsp a week later and it fermented for another day now it has been slowly releasing co2 (bubble every 10-20 seconds) for about a week. It's still very cloudy and temp is constant at 67. Is this normal for mead? I'm use to beer which is quick and obvious when fermentation is over.

sounds like you could be near the end of fermentation, have you taken gravity readings? Once you rack into the secondary you may notice the clearing seems to become faster

I haven't since I racked from my original primary. Way too early I might add, but that is what prompted me to add the nutrient. I counted when I got home and it is actually bubbling every 4 seconds. Guess I'm just really impatient.
