Hi guys,

Hope you've all been doing well out there. In short: can a crowler stay in a hot car in Phoenix from 8AM to 11AM?

I am out traveling on business and I wanted to bring something back for a bottle share. Got a crowler and then realized I have to take my stuff from my hotel on the last day and I won't be able to get to it til 11. I'm mainly worried about it busting. Our car generally reads 120 when we get into it from it sitting in the hot concrete parking lot.

do you think if you gave the hotel staff a few bucks they could put it in a fridge for you to pick up later?

Haha, cooler it is. I won't have time to go back to the hotel. Could've planned this trip a little better, but it shouldn't put a damper on things too much. I just need to get a cooler and some ice...

Too late, but for the next hasty traveler...
You may use the Ice from the hotel and one of the hotels Laundry bags...
For a few hours, no need to buy cooler.
I infer that the car is a rental car too, so a little condensation on the floor would not be too much of a fuss..

I have had crowlers last weeks in the frig. as long as they are not open with no sign of oxidation or other problems. The local brewery that sells them ("the Dudes") swears that they can be stored for weeks unopened without issues.

The sun doesn't mess around in Arizona, even that early. You'll be thankful you went with the cooler/ice, and I wouldn't be surprised it it was mostly melted by the time you got back to it! Also, a general tip about leaving your car outside in warm weather: put up a sun shade in the windshield and crack the windows a bit, the car won't get nearly as hot that way.

This surprises me. I've had crowlers from numerous places that all say to drink within a few days. Reason being oxidation and loss of carbonation. I've experienced the loss of carbonation in ones I waited more than 5 days to drink. Haven't waited long enough for oxidation to become an issue though...

:mug:

Are you talking about Growlers with a "G" or Crowlers with a "C"? Crowlers are fairly new and are cans with pop tops. I haven't had a crowler yet that lost carbonation before I popped the top.

Yes, Crowlers. Maybe the places I go don't fill them enough. Anything could be a possibility...

I was curious as well, I've had Crowlers last months as I was waiting for friends to share with - my guys purge the heck out of the can with CO2 fill to overflowing and seal, never had an issue.

OK, the crowler made it back with me. I was actually able to bring it into a secure facility by telling the guard it was my lunch!!! They didn't even look in the bag. Kind of sad. I guess I am just used to visitors having their bags checked no matter what they say is in them. So, I didn't even need to walk across the street for ice. Also, I placed it into my checked bag(was a carry on when I flew here) in the center surrounded by clothes and the mechanical airport "sorters" didn't bust it(or whatever happens behind the conveyor belt wall in airports)...in hindsight, it was a lot more work getting it back than what I wanted to dish out for it. Next time I go, I might just buy some bottles and UPS them back. Is this what most people do?
