- Tasting Notes
- The addition of the Key Lime darkens the final product
Grainbill:
9 lbs 2-Row (Domestic)
4 oz Chocolate Malt (Briess)
1.0 oz Fuggles - 60 min
1.0 oz of Dried Key Lime Zest - Flame Out
Mash Steps
Mash 14 qt of water at 153 F 60 min
Sparge to 6.5 gallons
The Key Lime throws off the color calculations; the color estimate is only for the base beer [English Mild Ale variant]. If you are unable to locate Dried Key Lime zest [or don't feel like making your own], you can use regular dried lime zest, but it wont be quite as tart.
Key Lime Juice [1/3-1/2 cup] can be substituted, but add it at bottling/ kegging instead of directly into the wort- that was trial and error to figure out.
Nice refreshing beer with a decent amount of bite and the tartness of a fresh Key Lime pie.
