Im in the process of getting into yeast growing for my own personal use. I am building a 3 stir plate set up and would like to install it in my FermChamber/ aging chamber. My FermChamber is a glass door snapple refrigerator with a ceramic heater. I have computer fans to circulate the air. I keep an ambient temperature around 69-70.

The real question... Is it a good idea to propagate yeast in a closed chamber that draws in fresh air during the cooling cycle? Also, will I risk contaminating the chamber by creating airborne yeast? I assume I will have to continuously sanitize the chamber but thats nothing a spray bottle of StarSan cant fix.

I have a buddy who does his yeast starters in his fermentation chamber.

I don't see any problem with it - keeps the yeast at a pitchable temp usually.

He just uses a foil cover on the flask, but if you were really concerned, you could get a foam stopper to minimize anything airborne.
