Steeping my Buckwheat

Someone was telling me that over steeping my Buckwheat for my GF brews can release tannins. Is that correct? What is the proper way to steep this grain?

There is a nice topic on grain bag squeezing and tannins. It probably doesn't matter all that much if you do or dont, but I dont, mostly because I dont care about a few extra ounces and I feel that squeezing is hard to repeat (as in if I make the beer again, how can I make sure I squeeze it the same).
