So this is an original post from the AngryHobbitBrewer back in 2012. It's a good attempt at an All Grain Clone for Steamwhistle. Trouble is I am looking to make it from DME and LME. And since I'm no where smart enough to figure this out on my own I turned to you!!! I really love Steamwhistle, its a very popular Toronto Canada beer, but it hurts me to pay those crazy prices at the store. Anyways here's the original post could someone translate it into an Extract brew:

Can anyone help?

Yeah, I'll take a stab at it but I have never cloned Steamwhistle, myself.

Converting that beer recipe to extract should be pretty simple because the grain bill is just 8 lbs of two row. So I would say that you should get your hands on as much Light DME/LME as you require to hit your original gravity of 1.043 (I'm not near my computer right now so I can't do it for you, unfortunately. It should be about 4.8 lbs of DME, though.) PM me And I'll do it tomorrow if no one else beats me to the punch.

Other than that, the rest of the recipe should be the same to follow. Just be sure to add the right hops at the correct times.

Do you have a few brews under your belt? Have you experience with liquid yeasts?
Additionally, this would be a good read:http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/how-to-brew/3-simple-steps-converting-grain-recipes-extract/

Also, for the record, steamwhistle is a fine beer. Great people at the brewery too!

Recipe Type: Extract
Yeast: Wyeast 2124
Yeast Starter: Yes. (original recipe says .92 gallons which is wayyy to big IMO)
Batch Size (Gallons): 5.0
Original Gravity: 1.043
Final Gravity: 1.012
IBU: 48
Boiling Time (Minutes): 80
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 days @ 50F.
Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 days @ 42F.

Ferment-ables: 4.6 - 4.75 lb Light DME [My software says you'll need 4.75 lb, but internet wisdom says you'll need 4.6 lb. Either way OG differs by .002, so not much]

Hop additions: 80 minute boil
Perle (pellet): 1 oz @ 60 [this amount might have to be adjusted depending on the AA% of the hops you get in order to hit 48 IBUs on the nose]
Saaz (leaf): 2oz @ 0 (flameout)

Chill and pitch Wyeast 2124
