Instead of having 4 wires #1 #5 #7 and the main hot wire nut together, can I just run a short wire from #7 to #5 then #5 to #1 and the main wire placed in #1 also?

It makes sense that that should work...Can you wire it that way? Maybe. Should you? I wouldn't.

What are you trying to accomplish? Frying your temp controller to save a buck? Go buy a wire nut for 5 cents. Or splice the wires together with electrical tape. or duct tape. or a hot glue gun.

No problem at all buddy.
Just use the same size wire. Probly 14g. Could go 16g since it's switch 10amp.

The colour's don't meen it's usual... Cuz I used the existing wire in the fridge.
And it looks like I got 7 and 9 mixed up...
But still absolutely no risk of fire 🔥
