In primary for 7 days now but bright white spots are starting to form on top. Sample does taste fine though.
I am very new to brewing and to this board, any help appreciated.

i agree, that looks pretty "normal" at this point. you'll see all kinds of ugly junk with fermentation. seal it back up and wait for the beer!
 
It looks ok. The pictures on flikr are really small, so it's hard to really tell, but the big white spot could be worrisome, but it's hard to tell from that photo. Search this site for the thread 'post your infection' and you'll see a whole array of baddies that can get into your beer and some good info on infections, accidental and intentional. Very informative.
That said, I think you have beer, my friend. Uninfected beer!
