Hello,
I have i gallon jugs that i would like to start a putting startsan in use it from that. If i fill my gallon jugs up and put my 1 oz starsan in each can i just leave in on the shelf for future use? i heard star san can be re used over and over. Would it make it go bad?

Basically, can i fill up 8 1 gallon jugs and split up the star san. I just bought a 8 oz bottle of starsan.

Thanks.

1oz per 1gallon jug is too high a concentration. 1oz is good for 5gal of water according to the standard mixing instructions.

As for keeping starsan, it will last for a few weeks, if you're planning on longer I would not pre-dilute it as it can loose potency depending on the water it is diluted with.

Right that's what I ment. So it would work?

I keep a HDPE 5 gallon bucket full of star san solution and use it for a month or two. I always check the PH before I use it and as long as its under 3 you are good. If you cant check PH, just use it 3-4 times and dump it. It only costs cents every time you make a gallon, so its not worth risking your whole batch.

Why would you want to store 8ea. 5 gallon buckets of pre-mixed star san?
Use it/mix it when you need it.
It will last longer if you mix it with distilled or RO water (not knowing your water report).

I heard you can keep the stuff for a while and I was thinking why not Pre make sanitizer prior to instead of making it at the moment....right?.

IME you don't need gallons of star San to sanitize your gear. A quart shaken in a fermenter is plenty, as long as the surface is wetted with the star San.

Another option is to fill a spray bottle and spray surfaces to sanitize.

I mix a quart or two max, swish it around in a keg, dump it into a pitcher for sanitizing smaller tools.

Can't imagine needing 5 or 8 gallons.

Lol I know what all of you are saying but what I'm saying is if I just go ahead and make a mix and leave it.

Leave it until next time because I know I can use 5 gallons within 2 to 3 months. I sanitize everything

If you use distilled water it will last a long time, if you use tap water it can vary. I would not advise mixing a long term supply with tap water unless you can test the PH to assure it is still good.
