I may be paranoid but I have a strange feeling about one of my fermentations. Just brewed up an imperial IPA with an OG of 1.100. I pitched a 2 L started that contained two vial of WLP001 last Sunday at about 5 PM. The starter was very active when pitched. It fermented pretty well for a couple days but as of right now, it's pretty calm, maybe a bubble out the airlock every 5 seconds. For such a high gravity beer I would have expected stronger activity for longer. I'm fermenting at 70 F.

Should I take a gravity reading so soon? Even if I did, what would I expect to see it at only after a couple days. Should I wait a couple weeks and then take a reading, and then add more yeast if it is still really high?

It blew out the blowoff tube a bit, not a ton, so I don't think I lost much yeast from that perspective.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

MrMalty.com says you should have used a 3 liter starter made from 2 vials or packs for beer of that O.G.

Take a gravity reading.

I should have mentioned that this was a 5 gallon batch. Mrmalty.com states a 2.01 L starter with 2 vials of liquid yeast with o2 at start.
