I'm looking to build a new stand (going single tier :ban:) that can handle 1bbl in the future. I decided in the interest of longevity to build this one out of Stainless

I'm wondering if anyone has some good suggestions on where to source the stainless steel (read: "Where to find the cheapest"). I just need some 1" square tube, and some 1/8" sheet.

If your looking for cheapest then a scrap yard is your best bet. The problem with scrap is that the square tube is usually fashioned into something else, which requires you to cut that up before you use it. It takes more time to un-fab something and them re-fab, but scrap is the way to go if you want to save $$.
If your lucky you may even find a frame that is close to what you wanted to build in the first place.

Good thinking. There's not a lot of scrapyards around here, but there's one or two to check out. Also, a steel recycling operation that's worth a phone call.

On the other hand, I don't mind spending the money on new steel; I just don't want to overspend what's necessary either.
