I just got my 10g water cooler delivered. I'm looking at Flyguy's MLT tutorial vs John Palmer's tutorial vs Charlie's double bucket with the false bottom tutorial..... Why would I use a stainless steel hose in my cooler vs double grain baggin all the grains and then just using the attached spigot on the cooler to drain wort? Even if i do use Flyguy's ss hose, isnt a grain bag ust another way to filter? Does anyone use Charlie's double bucket false bottom idea?

Your grain should be the filter. Use Braid, manifold or false bottom. It's tried and proven. I prefer a false bottom myself.

If you're going to batch sparge, there really is no beating the $4 stainless braid. The bag method has two issues. The first is being able to really stir the sparge water in. The second is keeping space between the bag and the drain so that it doesn't get plugged up. I suppose you could jam a stainless chore boy in there or use one of those stainless veggie steamer liners.

Keep in mind that the braid isn't some radical new idea. Denny Conn's been doing it for over a decade.
