Hello, I'v been using a 300-mesh 4in hop strainer for several batches. After some tasting, it appears the hop flavors are not as pronounced as expected. In attempt to troubleshoot, I'm looking at the strainer.

After an IPA, much less a DIPA, that strainer gets pretty full. I've been wondering if the acid resins are not actually being allowed to escape into the wort. I do a steeping motion from time to time with the boil every batch.

Basically, the question I have is this. Does anyone know how long it takes for the acid resins to be extracted from hops? Can I, for example, dump the bittering hops from the strainer after 5 or 10min since all the resin is now extracted?

Thanks!
