Hey everyone,
Need a little help/trouble shooting. I built a spunding valve a while back exactly like more of you (pressure relief valve, pressure gauge, and cornie ball lock connection). For some reason the valve is holding pressure but the gauge isn't reading anything. I have switched the gauge 2 times and still zero readings. I know it's holding pressure as when I twist the relief valve back on a charged keg it relieves pressure. Why is my pressure gauge not reading the pressure? Any ideas ?
Thanks

Spunding valves are notoriously bad when it comes to showing the actual pressure they will release at. For my system I have to set the spunding valve to a reading of about 20 to get an actual pressure of 10PSI.

Right or wrong, this is how I set mine. I connect the keg to the CO2 tank and regulator. I pressurize the keg to about 12 PSI (reading on the low pressure gauge on my tank) and disconnect the CO2 line.

I turn my spunding valve all the way to zero. Then I connect up the valve to the keg. I then turn the spunding valve until is starts to release pressure. At that point I know it's about 10-12PSI.

It could be that the pressure is so low in your keg that it is not causing the pressure gauge to register the pressure.

The range is 0-60.. Looks very similar to the picture attachedonly with a "t" not a "y"... I'm not concerned with it reading properly, my concern is it has never read anything at all. 2 different gauges and neither is reading. I've hooked it to gas post and liquid posts and have gotten nothing. There is definitely pressure in the kegs, what is the missing component?

Maybe you just don't have enough pressure in the keg? What are you setting your co2 regulator to?

Btw a 0-30 psi gauge might be more appropriate for this application.

I've used it on kegs with serving pressures and on empty kegs that I have charged with co2... There is clearly pressure in them as I can release pressure by turning back the relief valve and releasing pressure

I've never seen that type of T before. You might try putting the gauge at the top and the gas connector at the bottom just in case it has an internal back flow valve in it.
