This is my first Spring brewing and I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for what I should make. I have a Mr. Beer-type deal (makes 2.6 gallons), and I'm particularly interested in anything like Blue Moon, Shock Top, or Alpine Spring. Please be as detailed as possible, as I've only brewed twice and those were both extracts. Thanks, everyone! :ban:

Well,The Brewer's Best Summer Ale kit is supposed to be like shock top. My wife brewed it a couple times. It comes with some carapils & a spice packet with zests. You'd have to use half of everything in a Mr beer though. Or maybe half a pale ale kit from midwest.

Pretty hard to go wrong with the pale ale gig. I find myself tuning them to satisfaction more than anything now, except cider. Another couple of months will delete that supply and leave me free until late Sept. till I get my chips cashed in and the long strange trip begins again.

I brewed a Pale Wheat today (Gumballhead clone)

3 gallon batch - OG 1.052 / IBU - 27ish

2.5lbs 2 row
3lbs red wheat (or german wheat)
.5 lb caravienne (Crystal 20 if you cant find caravienne)

.25 amarillo 60 minutes
.35 amarillo 15 minutes
.5 amarillo 5 minutes
.5 amarillo 1 minute

US-05

someone could probably convert it to extract for you.

Brewed it last summer. great beer!

I think I'm gonna go with the Liberty Cream Ale from Midwest and throw in some sweet orange and paradise seeds and see how that works. Not so much for clone purposes, but it just sounds good.

I spend the spring making summer refreshers and a few heavies to age until fall. I have two aging right now to be ready in the fall (a Foreign Extra Stout with Brett C and an Old Ale) and am getting ready to put in a Wee Heavy for the same schedule. This will give me three nice beers for the fall. I'll then start working on summer beers--Pale Ale, Hefeweizen, Kentucky Common, and an ESB. I want to have a batch of each ready before June.
