So, I have a new 10 gallon brew system. I plan on doing a batch soon but I wanted to split the 10 gallon batch into two 5 gallons batches.
I was planning on taking the first five gallons, chill it with my plate chiller, as I transfer it to the fermenter. This batch will have lager yeast pitched in. Meanwhile, after I collect the first five gallons, I was planning on doing a massive hop stand with the remaining wort and make a pale ale.
So my question is: If I take the hose from the outlet of the plate chiller (the side the wort just came out of), and place that in a pitcher of Star-san, will that be enough to keep the rig sanitized?
Or do I have to wash and sanitize everything as the I perform the 30 minute hop stand?
thanks for your help
