So im verry new to mead and one of the idias i cooked up in my head is to make a spiced mead. I was wondering if anyone has tried that. And how they did it. Also would it tast good served hot not boiling mut hot enough to stewm

My plan was to boil 3 sticks of cinnomon 2 star anis and about 8 or 10 cloves in 3 cups of water for about 20-30 mins. Let it cool and add the brewd tea stuff to my mead at about the 15 or 20 day mark.

I tried orange + zest along with cloves, cinnamon, and allspice. It was very good served cold, but it might be good warm as well.

I like the sound of that i was going to try it with meadowfoam honey so i didnt want a to powerfull spice mix

Go light on the spices. If you add them in secondary, you can always add more after a few weeks if the spice flavor isn't strong enough. Especially watch out for cloves. I start with 2-3 whole cloves per gallon.
