For reference for others, I did some measurements of the three different kinds of "2.5 gallon" kegs I have here. I thought somebody somewhere might find this useful. Note that some true specifications are somewhat different than advertised.

I measured volume by taking empty and full weights (water just below dip tube) and doing the math.

AIH item 310-4300
Labeled as "Old Ale KMS2.5G-RBT- Capacity 9.5 Liters (2.5 US Gallons)"
Diameter:8.5 inches (advertised as 8.25)
Height: 14.56 inches (at least 15.25 needed to clear fittings)
Empty Weight: 7lbs, 3.5 ounces.
True usable volume: 2.48 US Gallons.

Morebeer Torpedo (regular)
Advertised as a 2.5G keg.
Labeled as 10L / 2.6 Gallons
Diameter: 9.25 inches (advertised as 9.125)
Height: 14.62 inches (no additional height needed to clear fittings)
Empty Weight: 6lbs, 1.5 ounces.
True usable volume: 2.71 US Gallons.

Morebeer Torpedo (Slimline)
Advertised as a 2.5G keg.
Labeled as 10L / 2.6 Gallons
Diameter: 8.5 inches (Advertised as 8.31 inches)
Height: 15.44 inches (Advertised as 14 15/16. No additional height needed to clear fittings)
Empty Weight: 5lbs, 12.5 ounces.
True usable volume: 2.45 US Gallons.

A few notes about the Torpedo kegs:
  • The Regular and Slimline Torpedo kegs do not stack to each other.
  • The Regular is really 2.7 gallons which means it has a nearly 10% extra capacity (2 pints!) vs the slimline in this size.
  • The Slimline Torpedo is a half inch taller than advertised.

I hope someone finds this useful.

Thanks for this info. Do you happen to know the height if you stacked two of the regular 2.5 gallon kegs? It looks like the bottom nests slightly, just trying to figure out if it is enough to fit in my kegerator as a stack or not. I.e. (14.62*2 =29.24") is a little too high but if it nests in a inch it may fit.

Looks like it will nest probably 3/4", maybe a hair less.I don't have two of the same kind to tell for sure. I don't think you'll get an inch out of it.

So two stacked should be around 28.5"
