Hey everyone,

Fairly new home brewer (3 months) here with a questions that I had based off a golden strong ale I just bottled today.

I brewed it on October 9th, transferred it to secondary after two weeks, added some brewed green tea, and it has been in secondary since today.

I took a little sample of the stuff to smell and taste and my girlfriend immediately said it had a soy sauce kind of taste and smell. I got more spices in the smell but on the back end of the taste was a little soy sauce.

Wondering if anyone knows if this is a sign of something terribly wrong or if it is something that might go away after a while bottle conditioning?

Thanks in advance!

Adam

Skidmark,

Thanks so much for the sending that link.

Ultimately I am hoping that as it bottle conditions the spice and the umami will balance out and it is going to be a very interesting strong ale.

Best

Adam
