Made a big red IPA, OG was 1.078 now after three weeks in primary @ ~ 67F my FG is 1.016, sound ok? It is very close to what I calculated. 7.5 ABV.

I will take a couple more readings tomorrow & the next day to be sure then cold crash a few days, then bottle, should be ready for the 4th of July.:rockin::rockin: :mug:

It depends how much of which malts you used and what yeast, but you are doing the right thing to watch it for a few days (and maybe bring the temperature up to 70f and dry hop). if you used 20% crystal or some other caramelized adjunct, I'd guess that is about FG.

That's not unreasonable. What temp did you mash at? Was there a large percentage of crystal malt? Both of those would contribute to a high FG.

Waiting and taking a few more readings is the correct plan.

9.9 # light lme + 1# light dme + steeping grains & .75 # table sugar. 6.3 gallon.
2packages US05 Safale yeast, plenty of Columbus hops. Sure smells good.

You did well to get 80% attenuation from extract - you are done.
