But a long-time acquaintance of mine just passed. He was younger than 35, but had a pretty serious substance abuse problem. This isnt the first person Ive cared about who has died or become a completely different person because of cocaine. If it wasnt the coke, it's really hard to explain why a man that young who was in pretty fantastic physical shape would have his heart pop like a zit, dying almost instantly.

Soooo....

Can I invite anyone here who might just be in the "I have fun once in a blue moon" stage of the use of this upside-free slop to cut it out while there's time?

Thanks. Sorry again to get serious and preachy.

James

Man, I'm so sorry to hear that. +1 to your request...no need for apology, and not preachy, just good advice.

I know a guy who died in his mid 30s. He was a drug free, hard-working man with a wife and two young daughters. His heart just quit one day.

It's entirely that your friend had a condition.

Not that I condone cocaine use, or anything. Just saying that you can keel over suddenly without it.

I'm sorry for your loss. Death is hard, period, but especially if it appears to be self inflicted in some way. Yeah, this is preachy but true, the closer you are to God the farther you are from things which will destroy you. God bless

Sorry to hear of your loss, James.
I had a friend die about 7 years ago on the morning of his 30th birthday. Speedballs all night long (coke and horse together) ... said to his girlfriend before he went to lay down "don't you do it like this" ... he died a few hours later in the very early morning.

Like your friend, my buddy was also in great shape ... a good mind especially math and engineering stuff, industrious, productive, very healthy otherwise.

Worse than snorting is basing or crack ... and meth. Crack and meth are absolutely killing this country ... the problem is so bad and its effects are so far reaching and catastrophic it is almost too frightening to look at squarely ... we have no excuses though and we don't have any choice. Something has to be done but there is no political will. Our solution is and has been only to lock people up ... and our current state of addiction is the result.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure ... and a pound of cure is worth a ton of destruction & loss.
I appreciate your posting James, thanks.
Sorry man.
