I just recently built myself a son of fermentation chamber and I love how it keeps a great temp (even sitting right next to my furnace). The problem I am having is the gallon jugs I am using though.

I am using old gallon milk containers. The problem is the damn plastic keeps cracking once the ice starts melting leaving a mess on the bottom of my chamber, along with having a find a new gallon jug. Is anybody using something different that is holding up nicely?

Bleach bottles have been recommended somewhere I think. They are stronger. Maybe soda bottles would work too.

This is the fundamental issue with these types of temp regulation setups. I had built one too many years ago, and I think by the time I was done, the cost was pretty close to an on-sale dorm type fridge. Only other option besides bleach bottles would be dry-ice.
I ended up trading mine for some homebrew and bought a mini fridge.

It's no big deal and you have plenty of options. You just need to find a stronger container. As already mentioned, bleach containers will work - but I've also seen people use juice containers. Just head to the store and look at the various containers and pick one that looks strong/stackable.

EDIT: Take a look at this thread - these work well. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=260231

People build these for other reasons than money.
