I was wondering...is anyone going to be visiting South Africa for the World Cup Soccer in June ?

So far I havn't got tickets - they're expensive and get booked up within minutes when new batches are released. They're setting up "fan parks" (big screen etc) which I'll probably go to.

What I love seeing in the final is a bunch of business men (not from FIFA or the respective countries) just sitting watching the game, barely cheering on...

Just received a message from DirectTV about Ch 106 (ESPN3d) broadcasting games in 3d, and my HD receiver is ready to go on Ch 106.

Hmmm... red/green glasses, or the new kind? May have the check it out, but this old man likes a clear picture w/o gimmicks (read HD).

Anyone else see this?

I saw prices from about R500 to R2500 and up. Availability has been more of a problem unless you were prepared to stand in a queue all night. I heard there were a few fights etc, security personel called in. A freind of mine paid R12000 ($1= R7.40) for 2 tickets for the opening game, the semis and the final.
I hear they're releasing more tickets on friday.

Ja, thats always a sad sight - some dude whos been given tickets but his company but doesn't actually watch soccer.

i got that too, havent looked into it yet though. i thought it was for the 3d tvs but maybe all you need are some red and blues. it would be nice to watch one game like that, but after a few beers im not sure how sweet thats gonna be.

I'm pretty much a defective Mexican. I don't really enjoy soccer that much. The most exciting part of the World Cup to me is the "Official Song". Shakira could sing the ABC song and I would love it...

To be honest Im also not a big soccer fan the only sport I watch is MMA.
But Im looking forward to this event - SA is going to be one big chaotic party.

thats gonna decide it for the usa. a good win, draw or even a close loss will set the temp for the rest of the cup. serbia isnt a bad team and it could be a close battle for 2nd in the group. i have no faith in algeria doing well. hopefully saying that doesnt bite me in the ass.
