I am wanting to soak some oak in Cabernet Sauvignon for my Consecration clone kit. Its still going to be awhile before I oak, but how long is a good time frame to soak the oak in the wine?

The wine making forum is probably good, but I soaked an oak dowel in cab for about five days, changing out the wine once or twice so it wasn't sitting in the same wine that had been extracting oak tannins.

Tossed it in the fermenting vessel of a farmhouse ale. I actually could pick it up, but just barely.
