I am looking into doing a Maris Otter Citra SMaSH, can anyone recommend a hop schedule that would balance a 5 to 6 abv beer.

I can help you out...

60 min 1oz warrior
15min 1oz Cirta
5min 1oz Citra
0min/30 minute hop stand 2oz Citra
Dry hop 1oz Citra for 4 days
Dry hop 1oz Citra for 4 days

Boom, yummy time

May sound like a lot but you will love it.

I just realized you have a single hop recipe here...in that, I forgot to mention that some people feel as if they get a cat piss flavor/aroma similar when bittering with Citra. I get a ammonia nose sometimes, so I get what others are saying, regardless I love Citra hops. Mash at 150-152 and first wort hop.

Warrior hops are great for bittering, they are smooth and buttery, great for aroma and flavor as well. One of the most underrated hops out there.

I have bittered with Citra a few times with success so go for it buddy. Great malt you are using also, I love Maris otter and use it exclusively as my 2 row.

Lastly, my friend made a Citra smash one time and you may be surprised how it turns out...I am not sure of his hop schedule, yeast, or fermentation statistics but it was ok at best. Using this malt and advice here your beer should be great. I would recommend dry English ale yeast, SA-05, super yeast, or Conan for a recipe like this. These are my house strains and have never disappointed. Send a picture and notes when you are done😁

I will do, thanks for the help. The wife got me 55 lbs of Maris Otter and 55 lbs of 2 row, I'm gonna brew the same recipe using both base malts to see the differences, should be a fun experiment. I also need something that I can get done quickly, the holiday parties have decimated my pipeline.

That's a great wife...you should try a smash with WL-644 Brett yeast and the great Mosaic hop. The Brett yeast is so fruity and the mosaic will meld well with it. Plus it ferments fast and hard. Remember to make a starter.

I've never used a Brett and I've only had one brett beer (love buzz saison) by an orange brewing and wasn't very impressed.

Yes... Anchor, my Brett tastes almost just like it.
