I did my first smash over the weekend, using bonlander Munich and hallertau. Normally my efficiency is right around 70%, but this batch I only got a 59% efficiency (according to brew pal). Any ideas what went wrong? My thought is a shortage of enzymes due to the higher modification of bonlander Munich than a normal 2 row, or other base malt. This is also the first time I used brew pal, and wonder if the calculations are off due to operator error.

weird, i was still able to get ~70% efficiency with the munich II smash i did
finished at about 1.020, but i think i mashed a bit high
