On a small batch (1 or 2 gallons), is the mash time the same as a full 5 gallon batch (generally 1 hour)? I would say yes as the grain to water ratio is the same on a % basis regardless of batch size. Just wondering if I'm the right track.

You are on the correct path.

I often even give my mash a little extra time. I set a timer for 5 mins to check on how the temp evens out before I even set my mash timer, and I'm in no big hurry when the timer goes off…
