Hi all,

Is their anything you can do to minimize or eliminate the sludge at the bottom of each bottle?

That sludge is just the yeast, after they've carbonated your bottles. No sludge = no yeast = no carbonation!

That said, if you have a kegging setup, you can use a counter pressure filler to fill your bottles, instead of bottle conditioning them, and that will significantly reduce the yeast left in the beer.

Do you guys have any info about the keg system?

If I keg, I can then bottle?

I've always wanted to keg, but I like to have a variety of beers at the same time

Careful racking, let the beer set for an hour or so after racking to let the "lees" settle, continue to practice the home brewer's bottle pouring technique ;) until it becomes second nature to stop pouring just before the sludge goes into the glass.

Right on both points, clearer beer into the bottle results in less sludge dropping to the bottom in bottle.

It has happened that I've been too focused on the sludge when pouring that I didn't notice the glass filling over. :mug:

Let then sit in the fridge for longer. This will also help compact the yeast in the bottle so it does pour into the glass very easily.
