Hi there
I'm relatively new to all-grain method of brewing. I have about 12- all grain brews under my belt at this point. I've been doing some research and from everything I've read I think I may start , or rather stop, sparging my grains. For large breweries it makes sense but for a small brewer I see more pros to skipping the sparge all together. You can do your own research or perhaps you've tried this before. From what I understand it just takes 20% more grain top up to your boil volume. Anyhow just looking for some opinions.
 
So you're talking no-sparge as opposed to going from say a fly sparge to a batch sparge?

Plenty of people here do all 3 with great success, I personally fly sparge and get great and consistent efficiency. If you can get the same consistency from other methods then go for it, there's no wrong way to make beer :)

No-sparge yes you'll need more grain as you'll be leaving behind lots of sugars.
 
Yes... Talking no sparge... This Saturday I did a brew with no spare with approx 17lbs of grain (proper amount, not accounting for 20% more grains) and ended up with an gravity of 1.061 pre-boil..... That got me wondering if it was possible to skip.
 
If saving time is not high priority, would you be willing to do the no sparge(pot 1), but then sparge into a different pot(pot 2) to make an extra beer(Parti-gyle brewing?)
Is this technique better suited for an imperial beer with a lighter beer. DIPA and a pale ale/ Imperial stout and a porter.

This is something that I have been thinking about.
