Brew Standers,
I'm designing and buying all the parts for a single tier brew stand.
I'm up the the dough in step. Whats the best way for getting the mash water to the grain? The easiest solution would be to run all water into the mash tun thru my sparge arm, but is this the best idea?
My next idea is to dough in thru the ball valve at the bottom of the kettle. Thoughts? How do you do it?

It doesn't matter how it gets in, just that it does. I wouldn't use a sparge arm as that would get in the way of stirring the mash. Going through your ball valve should work fine (I don't know if the grains would be too much resistance though...might slow the process March v Little Giant?) and quick connects would really help ease things here. You could also pump the water in over the top with a hose and possibly connect the hose to some sort of clamp so your hands are free to stir.

+1 there.

My pump output hose has some 1/2" copper parts soldered into an upside down J shape on it so that I can hang it over the end of a vessel while pumping.

Thats what I was wanting, but didn't know where to get one...
Thoughts? morebeer has some parts that fit that description that are for the bottom of a boil pot.
