i've only been brewing for a few months (already sick of bottling) and have read some threads on kegging w/ the cornies etc. seems like an expensive investment right now especially w/ kegerator and all attachments.

is there any type of system where i could keg my beer, carbonate in the keg and then get it out with a pump/picnic stlyle tap for parties? all of the beer would just have to consumed then i guess

You could prime the keg, just like you add priming sugar to the bottles, and then use a little co2 charger gun to push the beer. I don't know of any good way to use a hand pump on a corny keg.

no that charger looks awesome. thanks. so the only other thing i would need is a draft party faucet for $10 and a corny or two. seems like a great way to keg and age some of my beer and take 1 to the mountains with my buddies. bottle every other batch.

i just used one of the genuine innovations chargers this weekend for the first time. worked great. took three 16 gm cartridges to push 5 gallons of fully carbonated beer.

If you went ahead and got a paintball CO2 tank, adapter, and regulator, you could seal your keg and force carb.

oh, and just so you know, you're going to be spending an a$$load in the near future on kegging equipment. i know you're thinking this is all you'll need and you'll be happy bottling every other batch. once you start pulling drafts....well, you're gonna be like a crack addict. "just one more keg is all i need" and "oooo...those taps look nice" and "gee, if i just had a regulator" join the club. :cross:

haha...i think you're right; i'll probably just start looking for a cheap tank and regulator on craigslist.

Hell, once he fills his first keg, he'll say.....Wait, I'm done!? Must sell bottles, buy more kegs.
