Sierra Nevada has me roped in on a delicious beer ride. I just picked up the Fan Favorite Pack at Costco and tried "Tumbler" tonight. It's an excellent Brown Ale, and it isn't even listed on the website:

They can do no wrong (except for "Bigfoot", no love for that one), there is always "Pale Ale" and "Hazy Little Thing" in my fridges. Celebration Ale will be popping soon.

EDIT: They list "Tumbler" as tap only (with a picture of a pilsner), go figure:

I just got this the other day from my local Costco too! Ruthless Rye was my favorite from the start when they released it how ever many years ago. I wish it was available year round!!

There's a recipe for Ruthless Rye, supposedly straight from SN, so it CAN be available year-round:

5 gal, OG: 1.062, FG: 1.012, ABV: 6.6%, IBU: 55
  • 10.8# 2-Row
  • 1# Rye
  • 12.8 oz Crystal 40
  • 2.1 oz Chocolate
Mash at 153.5 F

90 min. Boil:
  • 90 min - 1 oz Bravo
  • 15 min - 1.5 oz Magnum
  • 5 min - 3 oz Chinook, 1 oz Magnum
California Ale Yeast (US-05, etc.)

Ferment at 62 F

Dry hop for 7 days: 2 oz Chinook, 1 oz Citra, 1 oz Magnum

WHATT!! where did you find this? I looked off and on the last couple years and never found a recipe. You're my hero @lumpher

I can't say that any of the beers aside from "Tumbler", move the needle much for me. All are good and drinkable, nothing to spit out for sure.

Regarding the Ruthless Rye recipe above, I don't think I've ever seen a recipe with late hop and dry hop additions of Magnum. The SN site claims that it has Chinook, Citra, Ekuanot & Nugget.
