I am a first year hop grower and am curious as to whether or not I should trim the side chutes that are growing off of my Magnum and Cascade plants. Can somebody enlighten me on this pleeeease?

No don't do it! You want them. Unless they are close to a different strain.

Right on! Those are called laterals/sidearms if we're talking about the same thing. They look like branches coming off of the main vine at the leaf nodes. They grow outward and eventually put out burrs which will turn into the hops. Don't cut 'em.

What about side off shoots near the base of the main vines? cut or leave alone?

Thanks John
