Did anyone here on HBT snag any supplies from the auction? I know The Malty Dog of Southfield was closed part of Wednesday as the owners were attending the auction.

I wasn't able to make it up there. Plus I figured I would just get out bidded. I did read that the original Celis family bought back the Celis brand though.

I'm happy to hear about the Celis family's purchase of the name. What a complex history!

I tried so hard to like MBC, but the beers just weren't that good. For example, nearly all of the beers that weren't high gravity were the same ABV. It's like they wrote recipes that were identical except for a 5% variable.
95% two row, 5% crystal 60...call it amber
95% two row, 5% roasted barley...call it stout
95% two row, 5% black patent...call it porter
And on and on and on.

So boring.

Agreed, wasn't the worst thing I have ever tasted, but definitely wasn't the best. Which sucked because I passed it for 4 years on my way back and forth from home to MSU.

I make the Celis White clone often. I got that recipe from BYO. I didn't drink much else by them but I think my local Old Chigago had their stuff on tap. Oh well.

MBC assets and brands purchased by MillerCoors. All of it. (Except the Celis brands, which were sold at a previous auction.)

The brew was great and the owner a business giant.

Troll. The beer was iffy at best and regarding the owner.................well let's just say the eviction and auction that took place to auction off their assets to pay off creditors speaks for it's self.
